Jackie Norris leads SPPG + Essman Research as President and Owner with previous roles as a non-profit leader, political aide, educator and corporate strategist.
Norris’ prolific career includes serving as the White House Chief of Staff to First Lady Michelle Obama, the CEO of Goodwill of Central Iowa, and the founding leadership for the global non-profit, Points of Light. She considers her most rewarding position to be her time as a high school government teacher where she encouraged students to use their voices and advocate for causes they believed in.
Norris was born in Ossining, New York and earned a degree in political science from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1992 followed by a Masters in Political Science from Iowa State University. During this decade, she most notably helped elect Tom Vilsack as the Democratic governor in over thirty years in Iowa and acted as the state political director on Al Gore’s 2000 Presidential campaign.
In 2002, Norris received her secondary education teacher certification from Iowa State University. She is the 2005 award recipient of the James Madison Fellowship for her commitment to becoming an outstanding teacher of the American Constitution. Over the years, she has also served as an adjunct professor at American University in Washington, DC and John Cabot University in Rome, Italy.
Her passion for education led for her to seek election and serve as a member of the Des Moines School Board. She believes all children deserve to receive a quality education regardless of their zip code, and is dedicated to delivering this mission not only as an educator and school volunteer but also as a mother.
“Team Norris” includes Jackie and her husband John, as well as their three sons Hunter, Cole and Sam.
