Mary Ann Lee
Executive Assistant
Prior to joining SPPG, Lee honed her administrative and computer skills while working in communications and insurance companies. Her work with customers and contracts prepared her for the work at State Public Policy Group.
Mary Ann was initially thrown into the day-to-day fray as the receptionist. It wasn’t very long until the oboist disappeared and the rock and roll queen showed up. Tucked within the competence was an engaging communications style and a sense of humor that would make Bob Newhart proud. She always believed that when someone called the office, a person and not a recorded voice should answer. Before long she was named the Events and Conference Manager. She continues in that role, but recently was promoted to Executive Assistant.
“What’s great about working at SPPG is that I get a chance to be involved in so many different kinds of projects and work and to deal with people at all levels. Being a part of what we do makes me feel good.” That may be true, but she also is an expert at contributing in those projects in ways that make others feel pretty good, too.
On a day-to-day basis, Mary Ann is involved in conference and event planning, GIS mapping, and supporting projects like the Peer Support Training Academy, and provides for the care and feeding of SPPG managers. She is calm, patient and deliberate, but occasionally a “hair band” quality or Queen-like rhapsody surfaces. Mary Ann’s style provides a much needed balance on some days to the hectic and time-pressured project deadlines. As we all know, a good oboe solo is soothing and resolute – very important for a better life, but as Mary Ann might say “long live rock and roll.”
