Joesten Zhou
Senior Accountant, Senior Photographer
He is as precise with his numbers as with his photography and as artistic with his photography as with his numbers. His degrees in journalism and study of accounting have grounded Joesten in his current work at SPPG.
A native of China, Zhou received his journalism degree from Fudan University in Shanghai. Soon after moving to Canada, he received a BA from the University of Winnipeg and went on to obtain an Accounting in a Computerized Environment Certificate. After moving to Des Moines, Mr. Zhou became a part of the financial services team for SPPG and its clients. Early on, his talent as a photographer became apparent and soon he was also an integral part of the creative team, supporting web sites, events, and media activities.
At the office, Joesten is a star with the numbers and in managing the day-to-day financial and office administration. And his star has risen with his skills as a photographer. Not only is he active in the Iowa Asian Alliance and the Chinese Association of Iowa, he has served as the official photographer in more than 100 community events, many more public and private sector functions, and received numerous photo contest awards. As a community volunteer, Joesten received the State of Iowa’s Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2006 and the Iowa Asian Alliance Award in 2005.
“I like to get things done, to be on time, to develop and use systems that support the work at SPPG. I believe in accuracy. Details are important to me, whether it is with accounting, photography, or with our projects.”
Joesten Zhou is able to mix accounting and photography like whole milk and ice cream in a perfect formula. Every day, he makes sure that all is working well at SPPG and whenever it’s time to get out one of his cameras, you know you should expect he’s got it just right.
