Experience Wave Iowa is an initiative that works to raise awareness about the opportunities that mature Iowans provide to the workforce and community. SPPG is supporting the work of the Experience Wave Iowa Coalition, which is made up of leaders who have a deep understanding and belief in the importance of keeping our mature Iowans engaged and giving back to the community. Iowa is projected to have a skilled worker shortage over 150,000 workers by the year 2012, and Iowa’s mature workers can be an important part of the solution! Experience Wave Iowa believes that mature Iowans need meaningful volunteer opportunities, workplace flexibility, and opportunities for lifelong learning to thrive and contribute to their full potential. Recommended ways to keep matur Americans in the workforce include offering workers flexible hours and more time off, enhancing lifelong learning opportunities for mature people, and opening doors for mature Iowans to engage in meaningful charitable work that takes advantage of available knowledge and experiences.
