Stacie Bendixen

In 1978, Janet Kold knew all of the lyrics to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. (More about that later.)

"I look at words and our language as a puzzle. When I read or write a piece, it is interesting to me how it all fits together, that its content has meaning, and, certainly, that it is grammatically correct."

Yes, Stacie Bendixen is a self-proclaimed “grammar nerd.” From a young age, Ms. Bendixen has excelled with her love of language. As a longtime voracious reader and writer, she received her B.A. in English/Writing from Drake University. At Drake, she wrote feature articles and edited for The Times-Delphic newspaper. During that same period, she was a communications and public relations intern with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. After graduation she worked as the Press Assistant and then Deputy Press Secretary for Governor Culver. Ms. Bendixen joined SPPG in 2011 as a Program Coordinator.

"At SPPG, I work on a variety of issues, and here I get the chance to analyze them for a purpose. State Public Policy Group’s basic work is focused on policy that affects people. That makes my work important."

Stacie remains involved in music and volunteer activities. She played clarinet all through college in the marching and concert bands and now is active in the alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, a music service fraternity. Bendixen is an avid musical theater aficionado, listing Wicked, Rent, and Les Misérables as her favorite productions. Bendixen has proclaimed, “I know all the lyrics to the songs in Wicked.” Jan Kold, eat your heart out!
